In this journey challenge yourself to work on your self esteem.

1.      Prayer 1: God, my physical bodily desires are at war with my Spirit.

Bible verse Romans 7: 18-20, I know that good does not live in me — that is, in my human nature. For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it. I don’t do the good I want to do; instead, I do the evil that I do not want to do. If I do what I don’t want to do, this means that I am no longer the one who does it; instead, it is the sin that lives in me.

Dear God, I am on this journey of recovery, and I am struggling. I have a deep desire to overcome it, but I keep failing. I know that the body and the spirit are at war with each other, but I am confident knowing that you will rescue me from this body.

As Paul said in Romans 7: 24-25, What an unhappy man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is taking me to death? Thanks be to God, who does this through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Lord, you understand my physical battle, and you are here to rescue me. I surrender my physical body and my desire to have a strong drink, consume substances, or watch ungodly material into your hands.

You are the roaring lion of Judah, and you hear me, in Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

2.      Prayer 2: Dear God help me to stay away from bad company.

Bible verse 1 Corinthians 15:33, Do not be fooled. “Bad companions ruin good character.” Come back to your right senses and stop your sinful ways. I declare to your shame that some of you do not know God.

Lord, I know that the bad company I keep will distract me from this recovery journey. I ask you Father to help me remove myself from toxic spaces and destructive friends. I know I am sinful in nature, and I want to stop those sinful ways.

Guard my heart and my mind. Clear my mind. Give me the courage and the discernment to choose the right friends and keep the right company. I know my good morals will not be restored if I continue to hang around bad company.

Father I repent and pray that you help me be better, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

3.      Prayer 3: Father I know with you by my side I can over this addition.

Bible verse Philippians 4:13, I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.

Father you have empowered me to overcome the challenge I am facing. I know that all conditions coming my way will be difficult but through Christ alone I know I can do it.

I am done with the works of the flesh, drug abuse, pride of life, sexual immorality, the lust of the flesh, worldly passions, and any type of addiction I am struggling with. Help me to overcome my emotional pain and not use substances to numb it.

Jesus, you are my firm foundation through these difficult times. I know I am not alone through these tough times. I acknowledge you as the solid foundation on which I stand, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

4.      Prayer 4: Dear God I am under attack, I need you.

Bible verse 1 Peter 5: 8, Be alert, be on the watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams round like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour

Dear God, going through this recovery is testing my faith. I am trying to get over the lust of the flesh O Lord, but I feel under attack. The temptations are everywhere, and I feel like giving in.

I do not want to give in to the temptation, but I pray that the grace of God helps me to overcome it. Help me to be aware of all the mind tricks that the devil plays. Help me to use the knowledge of the truth to fight the devil just like Jesus did when he was fasting.

Father in my time of need, please stay close to me and guard me,  in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

5.      Prayer 5: Jesus Christ, help me to go through this addiction treatment and use my body for you.

Bible verse 1 Corinthians 6:19, Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So, use your bodies for God’s glory.

Jesus, I have been bringing shame and harm to your temple by the way I mistreated my body with this addiction. The peace of God has left me, and I want to move back to God. I want my body and my life to be a living sacrifice to you father.

On this recovery journey, I want the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to be glorified. Dear Lord God from now on I am dedicated to using my body to do things that you have instructed me to do.

I will no longer do as I please but all my actions will be guided by your word. It will not be easy, and my body will probably go through withdrawal, but I know every step of the way you are with me.

You bought me for a price, and you love me, in Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

6.      Prayer 6: Lord, help me to not conform to worldly standards.

Bible verse Romans 12:2, Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God — what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.

Lord, I have been conforming to the standards of this world during my addition but now I know better. I belong to you, and I want to serve you alone. Help me to not see myself as the world sees me but rather as you see me.

Lord God, come and renew my mind and clean it. Help me to know what is pleasing to you so that I do it and find joy in doing it. I want to know all the different ways that I can serve you and follow your will.

Lord not my will but your will be done, in Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

7.      Prayer 7: Dear Lord I cannot do this by my own strength.

Bible verse Zechariah 4:6, The angel told me to give Zerubbabel this message from the LORD: “You will succeed, not by military might or by your own strength, but by my spirit.

Dear Lord, you are almighty and all-powerful. Please remind me to know that I cannot do this with my own willpower, understanding, and knowledge. I can only do it by your power.

I know that success and victory are certain with you. God I glorify you and worship you because you alone deserve all the glory and honor. You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, in Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

8.      Prayer 8: Father I pray for other people worldwide going through this recovery journey.

Bible verse 1 Peter 5:9, Be firm in your faith and resist him, because you know that your fellow-believers in all the world are going through the same kind of sufferings.

Dear God, I know that other Christians are going through the same temptations and recovery journey that I am going through. I am not alone in this struggle. I pray for all people in any Christian rehab center across the world.

Father I pray that you help each person struggling to complete their addiction treatment to endure knowing that endurance produces character. Give each person strength including myself.

I pray specifically for those battling addiction in silence, ashamed and embarrassed.

Remind us that although we are suffering now, in a little while we will be with you in heaven rejoicing, in Jesus’ name, I pray amen.

9.      Prayer 9: Lord my sin is overwhelming me, and I have come to confess it.

Bible verse Psalm 32: 3-5, When I did not confess my sins, I was worn out from crying all day long. Day and night you punished me, LORD; my strength was completely drained, as moisture is dried up by the summer heat. Then I confessed my sins to you; I did not conceal my wrongdoings. I decided to confess them to you, and you forgave all my sins.

Father the sin of addiction was consuming me and now I have confessed my addiction to you I feel better. After confessing my sinful nature there is no power of addiction over me.

I thank you for forgiving me and guiding me through the recovery journey. I have been able to practice the right Christian values and successfully embark on this healing process.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

10.  Prayer 10: Lord, help me to overcome my bodily passions.

Bible verse 1 Peter 2:11-12, I appeal to you, my friends, as strangers and refugees in this world! Do not give in to bodily passions, which are always at war against the soul. Your conduct among the heathen should be so good that when they accuse you of being evildoers, they will have to recognize your good deeds and so praise God on the Day of his coming.

Father, I know that I am an ambassador of your Kingdom on earth. Help me to be an example like Jesus and people should know and want you through me. May my life be a light that shines and chases away darkness.

I had fallen but now I ask you to help me to not give in to bodily passions. I want to be disciplined and in control of my body so that I do not get consumed by the ungodly passions and materialistic passions of the world.

Jesus, I do not want to experience the highs of the earth but rather to experience the renewal of the mind through the mercies of God. This recovery journey will make me better.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

11.  Prayer 11: Father I am getting ready to put on the full armor of God.

Bible verse Ephesians 6: 10-13, Put on all the armour that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil’s evil tricks. For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. So put on God’s armour now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy’s attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.

Holy Spirit I pray that you help me put on the full armor of God. This armor will help me be protected against all attacks of the devil. The armor is the only guaranteed protection against me sliding back into addiction.

I am a human and I make mistakes, but the guidance of the armor will protect me. I want to stand firm until the end, and no addiction will defeat me.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

12.  Prayer 12: Dear God thank you for the challenges and trouble I am facing.

Bible verse Romans 5:3-4, We also boast of our troubles, because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance brings God’s approval, and his approval creates hope.

Although this is difficult and painful, I know that I will come out as a bigger and better person on the other side. I know that after completing the journey you will lay your stamp of approval on me.

I will hold on to you and my faith and hope of eternal life. This is because without faith it’s impossible to please you.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

13.  Prayer 13: Lord, please take my Yoke it is crushing me.

Bible verse Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.”

Lord I am carrying a heavy burden and I cannot do it anymore. It is overwhelming me, and I cannot breathe.

Please give me your yoke which is light and easy. I am tired of fighting I just want your peace and your ultimate rest. Please come and quiet my life and my mind.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

14.  Prayer 14: Father you have known me since my conception, you still care about me.

Bible verse Psalms 139:15, When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother’s womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there.

Dear Lord, you have known me since the first day. You loved me and had a plan for my life. This journey is part of my story and my life, and I will use it to glorify you.

I am special and you have created me in your image. I am kind, generous, and an overachiever. You took time to create me, and I am an amazing person. I refuse to let my mistakes and struggles define me.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
